do gooder teens

here is a link displaying the awards given to teenagers after their community help, voluntarily. I think this will benefit my case study research as unlike my previous post's it is a direct story showing the positives of the youth of today. It is with cases like this that i can express and 'advertise' more and more to show those with a negative impression of the youth of today to show that this generation not only goes against the majorities view but contradicts it directly.
Township and school officials, and one TV celebrity, came together last week to honor 18 students for their community service.
The first Good Deed Awards were presented before a crowd of 120 in the East Brunswick municipal courtroom May 29. Township native Colie Edison, formerly of MTV's "Real World: Denver," served as emcee, while politicians on the local, state and federal levels, as well as Superintendent of Schools Jo Ann Magistro, presented the awards.

Teenagers who paralysed man in drunken attack walks free
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, left Nicholas Butt, a 26-year-old market analyst, in a coma after the drunken, unprovoked attack in Nottingham on May 16.
Mr Butt, who worked for an internet clothing company, was out celebrating scoring the winning goal with his football team when he was set upon outside a sandwich bar.
Mr Butt was knocked to the ground, cracking his skull on the pavement, leaving him unconscious.
The court heard that surgeons had to cut open the top of his skull to deal with swelling to his brain.
He remained in a coma for months and is now in a rehabilitation.
The boy, who has a troubled background and history of violence, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm yesterday.
As a juvenile the maximum term he could receive for the offence is two years but because of his guilty plea, his remorse and other mitigating factors the term would be reduced to only eight months, the court heard.
He has already spent four months in custody, reducing any jail term further.
Recorder Sean Smith QC told the court that such a sentence would have seen the boy, from Nottingham, released in only a few months without any further formal supervision.
Instead he imposed a two year supervision order, banned him from all licensed premises. He is also subject to a six month curfew and must report to police regularly.
“In no way shape or form would it be useful to anyone if I sent you back home after serving a short sentence with no supervision,” the judge said.
Handing the boy a photograph of his victim, he told him: "Here is a picture of a young man without the top of his head. Unlike you he is not going to live a normal life.
"It is not only Mr Butt but also his family who are going to have to live with the consequence of what you did for the rest of their lives.”
Angela Burrell, Mr Butt’s aunt, accepted the decision but said her family had been devastated by the attack.
“[The judge] has to address the fact that the young man has personal problems but that does very little to address our problems,” she said.
“Nicholas is unlikely to talk or walk ever again.
“It has changed his life forever and that of his family and many friends.”
